Continuing to raise the standard for a military-friendly school, American Sentinel University, an accredited online university, has added yet another benefit for active-duty military students: the TA Extra Credit program, which allows for one additional tuition-free course to be taken once a student exhausts his or her full $ 4,500 Tuition Assistance benefit at the university.
?Most military students use less than 40 percent of their annual $ 4,500 Tuition Assistance benefit. That?s like leaving part of their pay check on the table,? said Lt. Col. Paul Capicik (Ret., USAF), Vice President of Military Programs at the school. ?American Sentinel?s Extra Credit program is meant to encourage active-duty students to make the most of the education support given to them as a benefit of their service.?
Extra Credit allows an active-duty student to register for one tuition-free course when he or she uses their full 2011 Department of Defense Tuition Assistance benefit to take six courses with American Sentinel University. The student must register for the additional course no later than the August term.
Extra Credit provides an active-duty student with a significant incentive to stay focused on completing an advanced education. ?A college degree is a preferred credential, if not a mandatory one, for promotions within all branches of the service,? Lt. Col. Capicik said. ?And service members who transition into civilian life with both military training and an advanced degree significantly improve their chances ? and choices ? for fulfilling a desired career path.?
