CTS Makes a Case for Buying Construction Software in 2012

Rockville, MD (PRWEB) December 31, 2011

As the stagnant construction industry shows signs of recovery, the demand for cutting edge construction software is increasing. To remain competitive in the still-fragile market, contractors are seeing new technology as a cost-effective way to increase productivity while keeping overhead costs down. A new report from CTS, a leading publisher of construction software reviews, ratings and evaluation tools, examines the business drivers behind this upswing in technology adoption and makes a case for buying construction software in 2012.

"When the economy tanked, many construction companies put technology investments on hold," stated CTS President, Sheldon Needle, a construction industry consultant with nearly 30 years of experience and the author of the new CTS report. "But that trend seems to be coming to an end. New technologies that support lean business operations are driving a surge in construction software purchases."

To make a case for buying construction software in the coming year, Needle draws from his first-hand interactions with software buyers, vendors and his consulting colleagues. The report points to cloud computing applications, enterprise resource planning (ERP) software for construction and the desire for increased collaboration as some of the factors that are creating a paradigm shift in construction software adoption.

"Due to downsizing, many contractors aren't prepared to handle a significant increase in workload," Needle continued. "These contractors understand that their options are to add staff or improve their construction management software systems. Contractors with an eye on the future recognize the long-term value of investing in new technologies, including Web-enabled applications that better support their project managers in the field."

Construction company owners, managers and consultants are invited to read the report on the CTS Web site. Visitors can also download CTS' free Construction Software Selection Kit, which includes personalized software recommendations from Sheldon Needle. Software Development in China: IBISWorld forecasts strong revenue growth for 2012

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) January 07, 2012

The Software Development industry in China generated revenue of $ 284.02 billion in 2011, up 35.1% from 2010 (in constant 2011 dollars). The industry is estimated to have grown at an average annual rate of 29.6% over the five years through 2011. This high growth rate has been due to strong demand from downstream software users and the government, as well as solid pricing levels, according to IBISWorld, America?s largest publisher of industry research.

This industry's development has been supported and encouraged by the Chinese Government. The industry offers consumers software products, services and systems integration. The software service segment has increased rapidly in recent years and has become an increasingly important contributor to revenue growth. In particular, software outsourcing firms have improved, with more external clients from the United States and Europe seeking Chinese software service providers that offer low prices.

The industry is also highly concentrated geographically. The top five provincial areas by revenue are Guangdong Province, Beijing, Jiangsu Province, Shanghai and Liaoning Province, which together will account for 66.5% of total revenue in 2011. This is due to the presence of relatively well-developed economies in these regions, and the frequent development of software bases by governments.

Mainly due to industry assistance from the Chinese Government and improvement of technology, this industry is expected to continue to develop quickly over the next five years. Industry revenue is forecast to increase to $ 868.21 billion in 2016, which represents an annualized growth rate of 25.0% from 2011.
