CTS Makes a Case for Buying Construction Software in 2012

Rockville, MD (PRWEB) December 31, 2011

As the stagnant construction industry shows signs of recovery, the demand for cutting edge construction software is increasing. To remain competitive in the still-fragile market, contractors are seeing new technology as a cost-effective way to increase productivity while keeping overhead costs down. A new report from CTS, a leading publisher of construction software reviews, ratings and evaluation tools, examines the business drivers behind this upswing in technology adoption and makes a case for buying construction software in 2012.

"When the economy tanked, many construction companies put technology investments on hold," stated CTS President, Sheldon Needle, a construction industry consultant with nearly 30 years of experience and the author of the new CTS report. "But that trend seems to be coming to an end. New technologies that support lean business operations are driving a surge in construction software purchases."

To make a case for buying construction software in the coming year, Needle draws from his first-hand interactions with software buyers, vendors and his consulting colleagues. The report points to cloud computing applications, enterprise resource planning (ERP) software for construction and the desire for increased collaboration as some of the factors that are creating a paradigm shift in construction software adoption.

"Due to downsizing, many contractors aren't prepared to handle a significant increase in workload," Needle continued. "These contractors understand that their options are to add staff or improve their construction management software systems. Contractors with an eye on the future recognize the long-term value of investing in new technologies, including Web-enabled applications that better support their project managers in the field."

Construction company owners, managers and consultants are invited to read the report on the CTS Web site. Visitors can also download CTS' free Construction Software Selection Kit, which includes personalized software recommendations from Sheldon Needle. Software Development in China: IBISWorld forecasts strong revenue growth for 2012

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) January 07, 2012

The Software Development industry in China generated revenue of $ 284.02 billion in 2011, up 35.1% from 2010 (in constant 2011 dollars). The industry is estimated to have grown at an average annual rate of 29.6% over the five years through 2011. This high growth rate has been due to strong demand from downstream software users and the government, as well as solid pricing levels, according to IBISWorld, America?s largest publisher of industry research.

This industry's development has been supported and encouraged by the Chinese Government. The industry offers consumers software products, services and systems integration. The software service segment has increased rapidly in recent years and has become an increasingly important contributor to revenue growth. In particular, software outsourcing firms have improved, with more external clients from the United States and Europe seeking Chinese software service providers that offer low prices.

The industry is also highly concentrated geographically. The top five provincial areas by revenue are Guangdong Province, Beijing, Jiangsu Province, Shanghai and Liaoning Province, which together will account for 66.5% of total revenue in 2011. This is due to the presence of relatively well-developed economies in these regions, and the frequent development of software bases by governments.

Mainly due to industry assistance from the Chinese Government and improvement of technology, this industry is expected to continue to develop quickly over the next five years. Industry revenue is forecast to increase to $ 868.21 billion in 2016, which represents an annualized growth rate of 25.0% from 2011.

RemObjects Software Announces Oxygene 5 with Added Support for Java and Android

Hanover Park, IL (PRWEB) August 31, 2011

RemObjects Software, a leading creator of components and tools for software developers, announces the release of Oxygene 5 which nows comes in two flavors: Oxygene for .NET and the new Oxygene for Java. This brings the power and flexibility of the Oxgyene Language to the entire Java platform, including Android and BlackBerry.

Oxygene is an evolution of Object Pascal, the language that powers Embarcadero's Delphi Prism. The original Oxygene for .NET offered by RemObjects set out to bring a modern, next generation Object Pascal to the .NET world. Oxygene for Java, formerly known as ?Project Cooper? in beta, is taking this endeavor to the next level, with Oxygene now reaching the two leading development platforms. This includes native support for the Android, Windows Phone 7, and BlackBerry mobile platforms.

Oxygene for .NET remains the key technology behind Embarcadero Prism XE2 for the .NET and Mono Frameworks. For developers already using Prism, Chief Architect at RemObjects Software, marc hoffman, states, "The new Oxygene for Java provides essentially the same development experience as the .NET product, including the same core compiler and IDE integration ? but also new Java-specific features such as Android tool chain integration and Java debugging."

Oxygene for Java combines the full range of language features found in the Java Language itself alongside the wide range of powerful features and concepts that already made Oxygene for .NET the language of choice for many developers. Features include Class Contracts, deep language integration of parallelism and concurrency, and many more.

According to the RemObjects Chief Architect, Oxygene for .NET is immediately available in Prism XE2. Oxygene for Java is available for preorder with immediate beta access and an expected shipping date of later this year. When the new Java product ships, RemObjects will also have an update for Oxygene for .NET in Prism XE2 to provide additional enhancements and to sync the two products. An attractively priced bundle with both Oxygene for Java and Oxygene for .NET (via Prism XE2) is available for those developers who want to target both platforms.

Oxygene includes the Visual Studio 2010 Shell IDE, or can integrate with full versions of Visual Studio 2010, if they are already installed, allowing developers to use Oxygene in the same IDE as C# and Visual basic, if so desired. This gives Oxygene developers access to many of the tools included in the Visual Studio and .NET tool chains.

Mac BlackBerry Sync Software Halts Frustration For Beleaguered RIM Customers With New Updates

San Diego, CA (PRWEB) November 08, 2011

BlackBerry Mac syncing frustrates many RIM customers, but one software company, PocketMac, offers quick relief.

"There are plenty of Mac-based BlackBerry customers who love their BlackBerry but are seriously let down by the events of late," Tim Goggin, co-owner of PocketMac said. "The RIM outage in which customers were unable to fully use their BlackBerry for days was the straw that broke the camel?s back for a lot of people."

Goggin?s solution to keep customers in the BlackBerry fold is PocketMac for BlackBerry. This alternative sync solution, invented in 2004, aims to make sure BlackBerry users who also use a Mac can have their data properly synced. Most PocketMac for BlackBerry customers are users who migrated from RIM?s Desktop Manager software.

Goggin added, "Some Mac BlackBerry customers aren?t happy with Desktop Manager. Depending on which smartphone forum you read, they?re not thrilled with the syncing capabilities or the time they?ve spent with tech support to make it work. That?s where PocketMac for BlackBerry comes in."

PocketMac for BlackBerry was created by Goggin and his brother and ushered in the world of BlackBerrys and Macs talking to each other for the first time. And for 3 years starting in 2006, RIM licensed the software to give away to its customers.

Goggin continued, "Our 7 years working with the BlackBerry gives us the know-how to make syncing work on both the BlackBerry and Mac BlackBerry side seemlessly."

PocketMac?s fans range from the former Moroccan ambassador to the US to ordinary businesspeople who want something dependable and reliable to safeguard their data.

Chris Cary, a PocketMac customer, wrote, "you are every blackberry users salvation if they want to switch to Mac computers."

Will Meek, another PocketMac customer said, "I just wanted to say thank you very much for developing and offering PocketMac for BlackBerry. It is an awesome app!?

PocketMac for BlackBerry syncs the following to the BlackBerry:

(*) Entourage 2008

(*) Outlook 2011

(*) iCal

(*) Address Book

(*) iTunes

(*) iPhoto

(*) Daylite

(*) And much more...

PocketMac for BlackBerry is available now for just $ 29.97. More information on PocketMac for BlackBerry can be found here...
